I hope to eventually inspire intrinsic motivation in my students through Chinese teaching. Chinese is considered to be one of the most difficult languages for native-English speakers to master, and to become proficient requires long-term dedication. By getting to know my students’ motivations behind their language learning, I believe that I can provide them with meaningful opportunities to work with the language, and throughout those interactions, promote intrinsic motivation in students for Chinese language learning.
